C&N Hotel Patong, Phuket Visited by Major Grubert Please don’t mistake with the C&N Resort Spa, same group but this one has a pool and is situated a little further out (just before the Safari Club when heading for Karon) The C&N Hotel has no pool, but as far as I am concerned one can do without due to the numerous lovely beaches situated around the island. The best thing to do is take a room at the back. In the mean time the old wing has been redecorated, this means that these rooms now also have tiled floors, no unhygienic fitted carpet. In the old wing there are baths, in the new there are complete sanitary facilities, which I personally find more practical. The view across the car park at the back is a little modest, but nice and quiet and the balcony is usable. Apart from that it is better for lying in during the morning. Depending on the season and the length of stay, the rooms cost about 1000 Baht (800 – 1200). One is also able to book the pick-up service from the airport (only for the inbound journey) free of charge; this functions without any problem at all (the driver waits at the exit holding a sign with ones name written on it). Apart from the reasonable prices, the hotels big advantage is the satisfying furnishing and the service, which has become friendly again in recent times and also the central location. During the evening one doesn’t have to bother about a car or motorbike (of course one is going to have a few drinks, which would be no good with a car or bike anyway), nor is one dependant on the Tuk Tuk mafia. One just has to stagger out of the hotel to find oneself right in the middle of all the bars and restaurants. Internet cafe and travel agents in the same building (in the meantime the service has once again become a lot more friendly).
