Hotel warnings for Phnom Penh

Hotel warnings for Phnom Penh, Cambodia

Just for a change a few hotels one should keep clear of.

I have seen quite a few crappy holes in Phnom Penh. The first night I ever spent there was in the ”Beauty Inn”. Who the hell in their right mind gave it that name, honestly, the crappiest hole of all? The switch for the WC not insulated at all (nothing new for Phnom Penh), not even a shower curtain in the bathroom, which meant that everything got completely wet. No decent furniture either and what there is, is completely worn out. The price, 20 Dollars. Moved out the next day and went to the ‘Tai Seng’. Was better, they have loud rooms out to the front for 25 Dollars and quiet ones at the back for 20 Dollars. Of course I took a quiet one. Nice service, no lift, one has to pass the restaurant with any chicks one has dragged along. The place is also a little out of the way. Then there is the ‘Hawaii’, they say that the chambermaids rummage through ones belongings and the pages grope the girls, not the sort of thing I want. Then I stopped in the ‘Morakat Hotel’ near the market place, cost 15 Dollars, for that price there was no telephone, it was dirty, loud air conditioning. Heard from a reliable source that the place is not all that safe either so don’t bother with it, I haven’t got the address any more anyway, and I hope nobody needs it either….

One thing I must mention is that the things I have written here are just my own personal opinion.

In the “Beauty Inn”:
