A super hotel!!!

Location: Right by the Suk, really, directly on the corner next to near the NANA, only about 30 seconds walk, could not be better, that’s of course if one is a NANA fan.

The service is unbelievably friendly!! But one thing one should do is book beforehand….

Once again it turned out to be a mistake not to book beforehand, or at least phone up and give a bit of prior notice. At first they said that they were full booked, probably because it was just one week before Easter. In the end they were somehow able to ‘organise’ a room after doing a bit of hard thinking. This meant that the room was not quite as I would have liked it to be, but all in all I was quite satisfied. The worst of the two disadvantages was that it didn’t really have a window meaning: there was a sliding door in front of the window, on opening it one had a view of a house wall about two metres away. I thought, so what, will do for a few days, only need the room for ‘sleeping’ in anyway. The not so bad disadvantage was that the room didn’t have a huge bath like I had hoped it would have (supposed to be good for three); this was something that I had really been looking forward to, of course because of the possibility of trying out some water sports ;-))

And now lets get down to a detailed report of the hotel: As already mentioned, situated nicely on the Suk, Soi 2/4. This place is more or less new, the rooms are very reasonably priced, everything satisfies medium to high demands. Lots of marble, very nice, TV, air conditioning, radio. All the lighting is connected to a small piece of apparatus on the bedside table, quite handy really. The room key is electronic (one has to hold the thing in front of the lock and press a certain part of the door to lock or unlock it); the same thing applies to the room-safe. One is given some sort of chip; with this chip one is able to ‘programme’ the safe (automatically). By the way, after some time I realised that it is not such a good thing to leave this key to the safe in the room, I had locked it up in my case. The thing is that if I held the case in front of the safe, the safe would open up as well. As soon as I realised this I decided that I would be better to carry the key around with me permanently. It was a sort of a clip; this enabled me to clip it to by breast pocket. At least it was not all that easy to lose it with it being quite a strong clip.

There are three different types of rooms, which all differ in size. I had the largest type of room, cost me 1500 Baht. The smallest type cost 1100 Baht. One must admit that the rooms are quite small. I would describe mine as only just large enough. The marble floor seems quite cold when one has been there for some time, but one is able to use the felt slippers provided. The service is unbelievably good and friendly. Mine was so good I would award him 110 points from 100. It doesn’t matter whether we are talking about the cleaning woman, room service, reception, waiter or the doorman; all are very friendly and alert. It’s not that often that I feel so well looked after as I did here. On leaving, the manager, who is from India, gave me his card, in future I am going to book in advance, with a little luck a room with a ‘pool’ and real windows. The best example of the good service is the fact that the two doormen regularly recognised me from a distance (don’t know how with all the hustle and bustle going on down the Suk) and held the door open for me, they always had a friendly smile and greeted me whilst doing so, the same as I was on my way out. On my last day there I gave each of them a 100 Baht tip. The restaurant is good, but I did however, not manage to convince the cook of my ability to suffer when it came to how ‘hot and spicy’ (pet pet) the meals could be, wasn’t quite my taste.0
