The hotel is great, would say about Bangkok standard, for Phnom Penh just about unbelievable. Cost 25 Dollars and is worth every single cent. They are supposed to have even larger rooms (I think with two rooms) for 30 Dollars but the ‘small’ one is large enough. The hotel is new, even has a lift. I am going to award the service 100 points, good and ample breakfast (American and Asian style) is also available, mini bar, TV with lots of channels including MTV and MTV ASIA. American hard core porn is shown during the night time. Super bathroom, very large. The hotel was completely booked out, lots of business people. Next time I am going to try and get a room at the back of the hotel, first of all it is more peaceful (although the night time in Phnom Penh is peaceful) and secondly it might not be quite as warm from the sun (I usually had to draw the curtains during the daytime).

One year later:

This time I was let down a bit at the QUEEN hotel, well nearly anyway. After praising this hotel in my last report, this time it was a complete letdown. The hotel was pretty full meaning that they tried to palm with off with some room, oh god, what a rotten room, worn out and dirty! Never seen anything in my life like this before. I had already booked in and still had the room from the previous time in my mind, which meant that I had booked this one without first taking a look at it. It was supposed to cost me 20 Dollars. Either it had no window or one had a view of a house wall, the carpet was covered in burn holes from cigarettes and everything was dusty. The TV screen was so dirty one could hardly see the picture. I decided to call the reception and get them to send someone to clean the room up. The girl turned up straight away. On showing her the TV she immediately started to dust so I grabbed a tissue, spat on it and wiped it across the screen, completely black. Following this short demonstration she nipped off and got some spray and started to wipe things clean. On opening the fridge I received the next shock, mould and filth. I booked out immediately and did not let them persuade me to stay until the next day. What a rat-hole. It was as if there had been two completely different hotels. Of course I would go back there again, but only if I have a 25 Dollar room on the third floor. Don’t forget, this is only my personal opinion.

Conclusion: I can only recommend one take one of the slightly more expensive rooms for 25 Dollars; don’t forget to take a look at them beforehand. Better to book a room as well.

Here it is not all that difficult to actually want to spend ones time:
